Anthropology professor Anand Pandian, in collaboration with Cornell University’s Chloe Ahmann, has recently published a thought-provoking op-ed in the Baltimore Beat. The piece delves into the discriminatory history of waste incineration in Baltimore, underscoring its harmful impact on marginalized communities.

They argue that these practices not only undermine environmental justice but also neglect the health and well-being of affected residents.
“We can develop urban infrastructure that meets municipal needs while also honoring residents’ wishes to protect both their health and the environment,” the authors write.
