Andrew Brandel is currently Lecturer in Social Studies at Harvard University. His current book project examines the emergence of Berlin as a capital of "world literature", as well as the limits of that discourse, from the perspective of the everyday lives of city dwellers at the margins. He is also the author, with Clara Han, of Through the Eyes of the Child, which examines the genres through which familial memory of catastrophic violence is given expression for the generations that follow survivors. He completed his PhD at Johns Hopkins in 2016, where he also earned his MA (2013) and BA (2009) with honors in Anthropology. From 2016-2017, he fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study in Vienna, the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen/Institute for Human Sciences.
