Research Interests:

My current interest is in the “forms, formations and transformations of identities of displaced Tamil bodies”,  and I am planning to work with the Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora community in Canada.  There has been mass displacement of Tamils both within Sri Lanka and to other places, due to the long-standing ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka.  My interest spans issues of nationalism, ethnic identity and gender, and stems from research that I  conducted in Sri Lanka on internal displacement and identity formation within internally-displaced Tamil communities in Southern Sri Lanka.

Publications:

  • “Negotiating Tamilness" in Building local Capacities for Peace: Rethinking Conflict and Development in Sri Lanka, edited by Dr Marcus Mayer, Dr Yuvi Thangaraja and Dr. Darani Rajasingam,  MacMillan- India . 2003
