Research Interests:

My main research interests are in visual culture, popular media, and religion, particularly in South Asia. My dissertation fieldwork in Delhi, India, focuses on the circulation in television news of diverse but interlinked performative, narrative, and visual practices from across the Hindi-speaking belt of North India. I am interested in tracking how certain tropes that emerge in news stories are part of a longer history of cultural production that television cites as it generates new modes of its own.
