My interest include: political institutional responsibility to citizens, concepts of citizenship, medical anthropology and public health, and the experience of medical epidemics. More specifically, I plan to carry out research in Southern Africa, where morbidity and mortality from HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis have occurred in great numbers amidst complex forms of government and non-governmental involvement/intervention. I am also interested in exploring the relationships and potentialities between public policy, anthropology, and political action/activism. - De Vos, Christian M. and Abigail Baim-Lance. 2002.
